I am a Professor of Linguistics and Faculty in the Cognitive Science Program at the University of Connecticut. The goal of my research is to gain better understanding of the human language faculty. I do this by examining sentence structure, conducting broad cross-linguistic comparisons involving numerous related and unrelated languages, and looking into the relationship between language and broader cognitive mechanisms.
